Well, surgery is done, so here’s a quick update. Everything went well and that nasty dermoid is out. It was huge — about the size of a softball!
The doctor said that it had the ovary twisted around 4 times — no wonder I was in pain!
But it all went really smoothly and baby is good too. They did an ultrasound after the surgery and he/she was moving and kicking all over the place. Heart rate was good.
I have an epidural in for pain management and am resting watching bad daytime TV. I’ll recover in the hospital until Sunday or Monday and then at home for a few weeks.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Is that Harry Potter?? No really though, I’m glad you’re in recovery and everything went smoothly. So glad you and the baby are doing good! Guess all those prayers were answered
Yep, gotta love movies on demand
I must have missed an announcement somewhere. Bad reader. Congrats again!
Glad you’re feeling better and baby is doing great.
Must have — announcement post was yesterday. But then you do have other things on your mind right now
Thanks for the well wishes and hope you’re still feeling great!
Oh what a drama! Glad you are feeling better & it’s out!
Me too! It has been a dramatic few weeks around here. Hoping for a quiet recovery and smooth rest of this pregnancy!
I’m glad the operation went well. I can’t imagine something the size of a softball around my ovaries, damn.
You can do On Demand? I hated the TV in the hospital b/c you couldn’t type a channel number, you had to scroll through one by one w/ the a few second delayed response. I just took my laptop and watched movies on it–especially as when I was there I tended to be up all night…
Enjoy your rest before the kids welcome you back!
Yeah, recovery from abdominal surgery is no walk in the park but I actually FEEL better than I did before that nasty thing came out.
It’s not On Demand but there are a number of movies to watch. I’ve been watching a lot of Food Network and Netflix on my iPad though.
I’m a little worried for my “welcome” from the kids. I can’t do much other than move from bed to the bathroom, so home will be interesting since I can’t interact with them in anything approaching the manner they’re used to. Will be a challenging few weeks.
I’m behind on my blog reading! Soccer registrations closed up and I’m swamped in paperwork. (I’m the registrar). Anyhow, I’m so glad you are through surgery and all is well! Hopefully you are reading this comment with your feet up and your “ouchy” is healing well.
As a matter of fact, I am reading this with my feet up
I have the word’s greatest mother-in-law who is managing the kids while I recover. The downside is that I seem to have picked up a stomach bug from LS. Puking really hurts with an abdominal incision (forgive me some self-indulgent whining).
Oh no! that’s horrible timing.
Hope it’s short lived. You are justified to whine all you want.
Yes it is. But I stopped taking the narcotic pain meds and switched to Advil, which has helped tremendously.
